Fast and Furious
Saturday, July 31, Group Ride...
I hope everyone had a great week. We certainly had some FANTASTIC weather on Thursday and Friday!!!
Well, it's Friday again, time to start thinking about that Saturday morning ride.
This week I'm planning to do around 20-25 miles. I don't have an exact route planned out, but we will leave New Hope at 9 AM, and probably head in a South Westerly direction, and then work our way back North East to make a 20-25 mile ride.
Saturday Morning (July 24) Group Ride
Hey Everyone!
Now that RAIN is over, we can get back to some regular riding on Saturdays...so this Saturday is our first Saturday back.
We will be doing a 20 mile ride, starting at 9 AM at New Hope in Waterloo.
I haven't decided on a route yet, so we will pick one when we meet up.
I'm planning on keeping a very easy pace, no more than around 15 mph at the most.
Hope to see you there!
80 Mile RAIN Training Ride
Here is the map for the 80 mile RAIN training ride.
We are starting at 7 AM, and doing a 40 mile loop. We should be back at New Hope around 10:30. Then we will do two 20 mile loops. Feel free to join us for any of the three loops. Just remember, we need to maintain a slightly faster than normal pace (around 15mph) in order to properly train for RAIN.
See you in the morning!

Group Ride Saturday May 29
Well, this is the week when we are changing up the ride! And, it looks like we will have some amazing weather! :)
The ride will be broken up into two halves: The first half starts at 7:30, and the second half starts at 9:30.
The 7:30 route will be slightly more aggressive (but we won't drop anyone), and the 9:30 route will be paced a little easier.
Anybody up for a ride Thursday Night May 27?
I am meeting at the DeKalb County Courthouse at 6 PM, leaving at 6:15 PM with whoever shows up.
I've got a time constraint tonight, and need to be home by 7:30, so I won't be riding more than about an hour...but everyone else is welcome to ride longer!
We will decide the pace and route when we meet. Hope to see you there!

Saturday May 22 Group Ride
I don't know about anyone else, but I really was not looking forward to another nasty rainy ride tomorrow...but I guess I don't have to now! :) It looks like it will be warm, and nice out.
This has been a very hectic week, so unfortunately I have not had time to map out a route; however, I am still planning on riding. I will meet at New Hope (with a route) at 9:30 and we will leave at 9:45 with whoever shows up.
No Group Ride This Saturday (May 15)
Hey Everyone!
This is just a reminder that there will not be a group ride at 9:30 this weekend. We will be meeting at New Hope at 7 AM to head up to Caruso's for the Bike 101 Lakes Ride.
See you on the road!
May 8 Group Ride
Hey everyone!
Here is the ride for this coming Saturday.
The first loop is around 13 miles, and the second loop is 25 miles.
I will be at New Hope at 9:30, and leave at 9:45 with whoever is there.
See you in the morning!
May 1 Group Ride
So, I hope everyone had a great weekend off last weekend! We definitely got some much needed rain!
Here is the map for this coming week. The first loop is 15 miles, the second loop will be an additional 35 miles, for a grand total of 40 miles.
Remember, we will keep the entire group together for the first 15 miles. The second loop will not have a speed limit, but I promise that we won't drop anybody...so if you can't ride 20 mph, no problem...we won't drop you, we are glad you are there, but there might be some people pulling away.
So, I will see everyone at 9:30, and we will leave New Hope with whomever is there at 9:45!
Thursday April 29 Ride
I'm going for a 20-25 mile ride Thursday night (April 29) starting at 6. If anyone is interested, meet me at the DeKalb County Courthouse, on the lawn across from Pizza Forum. I will leave no later than 6:10. We will determine the pace once everyone gets there.
Saturday April 24 Group Ride Cancelled (Kind of...)
Hey Everyone,
Well, I'm the first person to remind everyone that they shouldn't overdo it, and guess what...I think I have overdone!
I went out and got this new bike, and I've been on it for miles and miles every single day, most of them pretty hard miles...and now I'm feeling a little worn down and almost under the weather. So, I think I need to take a few days off. This has actually been a very hard decision, because I really enjoy riding with everyone on Saturdays; however, I need to take this Saturday off.
Now, that doesn't mean that you can't ride! I absolutely encourage you to get out and ride. Go ahead and meet at New Hope at 9:30, and ride together! We've got tons of routes that we use on Mondays that you can pick from, or you make it up as you go (I know that when I ride with Adam or Ken that's what we do, and it works out very well.)
Don't worry, though. I will be back next week and ready to ride on Saturday! If I don't see you before, I will see you on Monday. Everyone have a great weekend, and hopefully you can get a chance to get out and ride!

Thursday Evening Ride - April 22
I'm going for a 20-25 mile ride tonight starting at 6. If anyone is interested, meet me at the DeKalb County Courthouse, on the lawn across from Pizza Forum. I will leave no later than 6:10. We will determine the pace once everyone gets there.
April 17 Group Ride, Saturday
Hey Everyone!
We are riding again on Saturday. We did 50 miles last week, and it was quite a long day! We were completely surprised by some pretty major hills on 500S, just north of Hamilton, and then we dealt with a 20+ mph headwind all the way back to Waterloo! Kudos to everyone who stuck it out: Layna, Chris and Tim. That was a tough ride!
Pre Ride...I guess that's what I should call it.
So, I'm planning to put a decent ride in before the club ride tonight. I'm leaving the DeKalb County Courthouse at 4:30 PM (I will probably get there at 4:25PM) and will finish at New Hope at 6:00 PM.
If anyone is interested, meet me at the Courthouse at 4:30!

April 10 Group Ride
Hey Everyone,
FYI: I am posting this in the Just For Fun, in case anyone wants to do the short loop, and in the RAINRIDE, in case anyone is interested in the base miles.
Sorry about the late notice on the ride this Saturday! It's been a crazy week. Anyway, this week I am planning a 50 mile ride. However, we are breaking it into a 15 mile ride followed by a 35 mile ride. We are also going to try something a little different this week: On the 15 mile ride we will keep the pace under 15 mph and stay together as a loose group. The second loop of 35 miles will have no speed limit. The idea here is to give people a chance to get out and ride on Saturdays, but also give the people who really want to get out and hammer a chance to do that as well. And, the easier pace on the first 15 miles will be a nice warm-up for anyone wanting to do the remaining 35 miles.
Just to be clear, anyone is welcome to ride in either segment of the ride, but after the first 15 miles, we will pick the pace up quite a bit.
Also, this is the last week that I will be posting the route on www.jeremiahotis.com. If you are looking for it there, browse over to brokenspokescycling.com and sign up for an account (it's free!). You will want to join the "Fast and Furious" group in order to stay informed about these rides. The emails will continue for another week, but after that, the only updates will come from brokenspokescycling.com.
Now, concerning this week's ride...
The first loop will be a familiar ride...we will head down CR 28 to Corunna and then back up SR 6 to Waterloo. However, we will turn North onto CR 24, just after the UPS center, and head up to CR 35 to come back to Waterloo. Anyone who would like to finish the ride at that point can head back to New Hope, everyone else will head East on SR 6 towards Butler.
I will let you look at the map for the info on the remaining portion of the ride, because, frankly, I don't feel like typing it all out when there is a map...just call me lazy! :)
I will see everyone at 9:30 AM on Saturday at New Hope! Remember, we are leaving at 9:45 AM with whoever is there, so don't be late!

Saturday April 3 Group Ride
Hey Everyone! First things first: I will be moving all updates regarding the Saturday rides to a new website, www.brokenspokescycling.com. All information regarding these Saturday rides will be available in the "Fast and Furious" (that's tongue-in-cheek, by the way) group. So, swing on over to the new website and take a look! I will be posting the ride next week to www.jeremiahotis.com as well, but after that, all info will only be posted on brokenspokescycling.com.
The map and info is available on www.jeremiahotis.com and also at www.brokenspokescycling.com in the "Fast and Furious" Group.
Now, hasn't this weather been wonderful!?! We got a ride in Monday night, and we are planning a ride on Thursday night (6PM on the courthouse lawn in Auburn if you're interested), and we've got the ride this Saturday!
Last Saturday was terribly cold. It was just Ken and I, and we finally decided we were freezing to death, so we cut the ride short and went home. We got around 15-20 miles in, instead of the 35-40 we were planning on, but that's ok...I'd rather not have frostbitten fingers and toes any day!
We will be following the same basic route that was planned for last Saturday this weekend. We will start at New Hope, head East on CR 28 to the Co-Op, and then North, working our way up to CR 16, then we will work our way over to CR 35 and back to New Hope. At that point, anyone who wants to stop can stop. We will continue South on CR 35 to CR 34, head East to CR 39 and then North to CR 40A, then West back to CR 35. We will take CR 35 North to Old Brick Road and then work our way back North through Auburn, and then back to New Hope.
Total ride is just over 29 miles, and both loops are right at 15 miles each. It should be a nice, fun ride, and hopefully we will have some nice weather!
I will be at New Hope at 9:30 AM, and will leave at 9:45 AM with whoever is there.
Hope to see you then!
Jeremiah
