The Official Broken Spokes Riding Season Begins Anew March 12, 2012!!!
As I sit watching the snow come down, I'm excited to think that in only 8 days we'll begin our regular Monday night rides! I know it's still early enough in the season we could get snowed or cold-rained out. But we'll ride with whomever comes whatever the weather. If its too cold or wet for you, don't be discouraged...you can ride with us next week! We have a couple of things we plan to do different, which I think you'll like:

Winter Bash Details - Y'all Come!!!
Here are details for the Broken Spokes Winter Bash:

Broken Spokes Bicycle Club Winter Bash February 19th!
The Broken Spokes annual Winter Bash will be:
- February 19th
- At Chris and Sue Clear's house
- We'll have soup and other stuff
- I have no idea what time (They haven't told me...). It will be early afternoon.
- You'll be asked to bring something, I don't know what it will be (See item 4, above)
- We will have a great time!
More info will be forthcoming shortly. PUT THIS THING ON YOUR CALENDAR!

Monday- April 2
Here is the normal monday night ride. The wind will again be out of the east-northeast. Per tradition, we will conquere the wind first. The weather will be pleasant and the sun will be shining. Come out and enjoy it with us!
Meet at the New Hope's front door at 6 pm sharp. We will have a short devotional, and then set out on our journey. I hope to see you there!
Chris

Monday Night - 3/26/2012
Welcome to another monday night ride. I had the opportunity to ride Sunday afternoon with a few friends. I am sunburned! Monday will include plenty of sun, but will be cool. Thus, sunscreen should not be needed as you will likely be covering up those white legs you have been working on this winter! In my case, I will be able to cover my red legs!
We will meet at the front door of the church for a short devotional at 6 pm. Afterwards, we will ride into the light wind to begin finishing with the wind.

Monday Night - March 12, 2012
And so the riding begins. Welcome back the riding season with our first regularly scheduled monday night ride. As usual, the ride will begin at 6 pm on the Northeast end of the church. We will have a short devotional and then spin our wheels.
The weather will be warm but possibly wet. If for any reason you hear thunder or see lightning, the ride is cancelled. The cancellation will come through this website as well as through an individual at the ride start.
Tour D'Kalb, the 2012 Edition!!!!
Hey Everyone!!!!
I hope you had a FANTASTIC winter. This winter was wonderfully mild, and there were lots of great days for bike rides! I hope you all had a chance to get a few miles in...
Anyway, we are getting ready to start the planning for the Second Annual Tour D'Kalb Family Bike Ride. This year the ride will be in mid-September...we are finalizing the date right now, and will let you know as soon as we have it.
We need lots of help both planning and putting on the ride. And that is what this post is all about...

Ladies' Night at Summit City Bicycles March 31st!
Ladies night at Summit City is coming up March 31st! We need to know how many of our ladies want to go so we can reserve a block of tickets for Broken Spokes.

Sunday 1-15-2012 at 1 pm
Since I am working at church this weekend, I will not be able to ride until 1 pm. I will likely ride south against the wind to start. My total time on the bike will be restricted to an hour and a half. Snow will still be on the roads so be prepared to slip and slide. See you at the starting point: New Hope.
Chris

Sunday 1-8-2012
I will be leaving from the church at 11:30 am sunday morning. The winds are out of the west, so I will be making an "out-and-back" ride on CR28. This will likely take me beyond Kendalville as I will be riding for two to three hours total. It will be partly cloudy without a chance of rain. Come join me!

Chilly Challenge - Leave New Hope at 11:30am
We will leave from the New Hope East Parking Lot at 11:30am, January 1st. Come a little early so we can load bikes, decide who will ride together and be on the road by 11:30. This should get us there in plenty of time for the 1PM mass start. Let us know if you're planning to be there so we don't leave without you.
The weather looks to be warm (-ish) and dry. Unless the weather changes I'm planning to bring my road bike.

I will be leaving the church around 11:30 am. The wind is out of the west so I will likely be riding towards Kendalville on an out-and-back route using CR 28. Come join me.

2012 CHILLY CHALLENGE - A Great Way to Ring in the New Year!
If you're looking for an exciting, different and fun way to ring in the New Year, here's your chance. The 2012 Chilly Challenge! Members of Broken Spokes have participated in this event for the last 4 years. Based on the age of our bicycle club this brings the Chilly Challenge into the realm of a Broken Spokes tradition. And from the feedback I've received, this year promises to bring the largest group of Broken Spokes members we've taken to the Chilly Challenge yet!

12-11-2011-Sunday
I will be leaving from the church at 11:30am. I will likely ride south on CR35 as the wind will be out of the south. I will ride for 2 to 3 hours. Hope to see you there.

Sunday at 11:30 am (11-20-2011)
I will be leaving from New Hope at about 11:30 am tomorrow. Everyone is welcome to join me. I expect to be riding for at least 2 hours. The winds will be out of the north so that is the direction I expect to go first.
Chris

11-6-2011 - 11 am
I will be leaving from the church at 11 am. The winds will be out of the south so I will likely begin my ride by heading south on CR35. I don't know any more than the beginning. I will likely be on the bike for about 2 to 3 hours. If you are unwilling to ride that long, we could alter the route so you don't have to ride that long.
Chris
Saturday November 5 Bike Ride
Well, this has been a sad week: The last Monday night bike ride for the season.
But, never fear, we will continue to get together and ride as often as possible through the winter.
And, it's time for our first official off-season ride!
We will meet at New Hope at 10 AM and ride for a few hours. We don't really have a route planned out, and we will determine the pace based on who rides. But, we will not be returning to New Hope very often, so feel free to join us at 10 and then peel off whenever you are ready to be done riding.

October 31 - Monday Night
Well, this is the last monday night ride of the season. It never seems long enough. Anyway, the weather will be in the 50's with a light southwest wind. I planned our route to conquere the wind first and enjoy the fruits of our labor (riding with the wind) second. But, this ride doesn't need to be your last of the year.
